Membership
Any grown-up Bangladeshi or foreign national, man or woman,
irrespective of religion, caste, and creed, having sound mental
health and honesty, can be a member of the HLP Foundation,
by paying the organizational entry fees, and annual fees without
default, which are applicable for all general members.
The Advisory members and Think Tank members are not required to
pay any fees to the HLP Foundation.
Classification of members
There will be three (3) types of membership in the Company:

General member;
-
Advisory member;
-
Think Tank members.
General Member: Any grown-up Bangladeshi
national, man or woman, irrespective of religion, caste and creed,
having sound mental health and honesty, can be a general member of the Company,
provided that he/she abides by these Articles of Association, and is faithful to the Company.
Advisory Member: Any local or
foreign person interested
in becoming an advisor of the HLP Foundation must have an
excellent track record of social and academic work, and may apply
for the membership of Advisor. Executive Committees will take
the decision in its meeting. Advisors may participate in any
meeting on call, but they will not cast their vote in any election or selection process of the Company.
They don’t need to pay any subscription other than donation.
Think Tank Member: Any local or foreign person
interested in becoming Think Tank member must have
full understanding, in-depth knowledge, and actual
experience of HLP; must have an excellent track
record of social and academic work; and may apply for becoming
a Think Tank member. Executive Committee will take the
decision in its meeting. Think Tank members are eligible to
attend all meetings, but they will not cast their vote in any
election process of the HLP Foundation; though in case of selection they
can provide their valuable insights. They don’t need
to pay any subscription other than donation.
Membership Procedure

Anyone who is interested in voluntary services can be a member of this HLP Foundation.

Minimum age for membership is eighteen (18).
-
Every member must be faithful to the principles and objectives of the Company as
detailed in these Articles of Association.

Application form for membership should be submitted to the President,
along with the receipt of paid application fee of Taka five thousand only (Tk. 5000.00).
-
Annual membership due is Taka twelve thousand only (Tk. 12000), which must be paid in cash.
It is recommended that members receive and keep the money receipt in every case.

Executive Director will forward all applications for membership before the Governing
Body (GB) after proper scrutiny, and upon approval of the GB, keep records in registry.
Revocation of Membership
Membership can be revoked in case of any or all of the following reasons:

Resignation on own will;
-
Accusation for defalcation;
-
Loss of mental soundness;
-
Inactivity in Company;
-
Acts and attitude subversive to the principles and interests of the Company;

Non-payment of annual membership dues for more than six (6) months;
-
Death or insolvency (bankruptcy);
-
Absence in three (3) consecutive meetings without showing any valid reasons.
Resumption of Revoked Membership
A member, whose membership was revoked,
can be readmitted after proper discussion
in the Executive Committee, whose decision is
ultimate. All due subscriptions will have to be
paid along with penalty of Taka five thousand only
(Tk. 5000), regular admission fee of Taka
five thousand only (Tk. 5000), and annual dues in advance.
Membership relinquishment

If any member wishes to resign, he/she has to give notice in writing
to the President/General Secretary at
least one month in advance. The Executive Committee will take the final decision about the matter.

Such a member will be exempted from all kinds of duties and responsibilities
at the time of submission of the resignation letter, but will have to pay all due subscriptions,
if any. If any member wishes to resign, his/her donations and deposited subscriptions will not be refunded.
Membership cancellation

Resignation letter must be submitted by a member, and approved by the Executive Committee.

If any member is unable to pay monthly subscription for three (3) months in
a row, he/she will have to give notice for repaying all due subscriptions within one (1) month.
If he/she is unable to pay due amounts, his/her membership will be treated as cancelled.

If there is any proven act or behavior against the Company by a
member, he/she will be given the chance to show cause within
seven days from the date of such notice. His/her membership will be
treated as cancelled according to the decision taken by two-thirds
of present members of the Executive Committee.

Membership of the persons of the following categories will be deemed cancelled:

Who is guilty of a crime or unlawful conduct;

Who exploits and neglects his/her position in the society, or indulges in acts against mankind;

Who disbelieves in the equal rights of men and women;
-
Who is unable to carry out one’s responsibility;
-
Who is physically unfit and is suffering from an incurable fatal disease;
-
Who is financially insolvent, or bankrupt in case of an institution;
-
Who is dead.

The number of officers/members/departments may be increased or decreased as per decision of the Governing Body.
